NRC stands by Diablo Canyon report - Fierce Energy

According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, NRC and PG&E held a four-hour discussion to talk about seismic threats -- a conversation that began in 2011, when Japan's Fukishima plant was near the epicenter of an earthquake. The Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant is located between the Pacific and North American tectonic plates. "Diablo Canyon Power Plant is a safe, clean and reliable energy resource for California and PG&E's customers," PG&E spokesperson Blair Jones also told FierceEnergy. "The facility was built with earthquake safety at the forefront, and the advanced seismic studies performed by scientific experts re-confirmed the plant is able to withstand the largest potential earthquakes that could be generated by nearby faults.
