Hill cashes in on new five-year contract with the University of Northern Colorado - Greeley Tribune
That was evident Friday when the school’s board of trustees and Hill agreed on a new five-year contract for Hill to continue to coach the UNC men’s basketball team. Hill’s new contract will run through the 2019-20 season and pay him an annual salary of $140,000. There are several incentive clauses in Hill’s contract that if reached, will pay him bonus money. The contact also has a clause that indicates that $25,000 — from sources other than UNC revenue — will be placed in an account as a retention bonus for Hill. If Hill is released due to violations or leaves on his own, he will not be entitled to any retention bonus money. UNC athletic director Darren Dunn cited Hill’s ability to grow the foundation of the men’s program via his leadership. “Coach Hill and his staff demonstrated that his leadership, with an emphasis on service, athletics and academic excellence reflect the core values of the university,” Dunn said in a news release. Hill will begin his sixth season as the Bears’ head coach in the fall and is among the top three coaches in UNC history in winning percentage (. 496) and has the fourth best winning percentage among current Big Sky Conference coaches. “I’m very thankful to the University Board, president (Kay) Norton, and Darren Dunn for receiving this new contract,” Hill said in a news release.
