The company opened the eight-screen theater in 1989 as Movies 8 Tulsa, and it was one of Tulsa’s best-attended first-run theaters in the 1990s until a series of new, much larger theaters opened later in that decade. Cinemark, the nation’s No. 3 movie theater chain by number of screens (4,499 in North America), continues to operate three movie theaters in the area: Cinemark Tulsa & IMAX, 10802 E. 71st St. Cinemark Broken Arrow, 1801 E. Hillside Drive.
