Waverly Council discusses week-long Spring Cleanup - Pike County News Watchman

During his Mayor’s Report, Greg Kempton announced that Spring Cleanup will take place during the week of May 4-8. “The last few years, they’ve been pretty much knocking it out on each side of the street in a day and a half or two days and picking... Council approved changing Spring Cleanup to one week rather two weeks, as it has been scheduled in the past. Council also approved a motion to enter into financing with First National Bank to purchase a fully-equipped Ford F550 from Valley Ford, Inc. The truck, valued at $65,718, will be used by the Street Department. Council also voted to accept a bid from KC Landscaping for the mowing of large parks, such as Bristol Park, payable in 1/3 increments. In addition, council voted to allow allow American Savings Bank to pour concrete at their U. S. 23 entrance and voted to allow Mosley’s Flowers to set up a Farmer’s Market within a 20’ x 20’ space in the parking lot at Canal Park. Councilman Dick Demlow shared with council the revenue produced by fines, auctions and impound charges, and council discussed the possibility of expanding the impound lot in the future, along with the proper handling of nuisance properties.
