Murphysboro man pleads guilty to theft - KFVS
A Murphysboro man has been sentenced to one year in prison after he stole a truck and a trailer. On June 25, 2015, at approximately 6:20 a. m. , the Murphysboro Police Department was called to the 7th Street High-Rise in Murphysboro, in regard to a white male attempting to siphon gas from a Jackson County Housing Authority Truck. Witnesses reported seeing a white Ford F-250 pulling a trailer enter the parking lot and park. They then observed someone described as a white man approach the Housing Authority truck with a gas can and attempt to siphon gas from the truck. A registration check on the vehicle revealed that the F-250 was a Metropolis, Illinois, Water Department vehicle that had been reported stolen the night before. However, after further questioning, McLafferty admitted to stealing gasoline from a gas station in Paducah, Kentucky, while he was in the truck. At approximately 4:15 p. m. , the Murphysboro Police found the trailer that was attached to the F-250 in the Hardees parking lot on the east side of Murphysboro. Minor positively identified the trailer as his, and told the police that he had not given anyone permission to take his trailer. Source: www.kfvs12.com
