Pottsville puts vehicles on market - Republican & Herald

To make space at the city garage and generate some revenue, the City of Pottsville recently put eight of its vehicles on the market, including former fire chief sport-utility vehicles and police cruisers. City Administrator Thomas A. Palamar said these will go to the highest bidders. We don’t have a minimum bid advertised,” Palamar said. Sealed bids will be received by the City of Pottsville until the end of the work day Wednesday. Anything we make will be great, and we’ll apply it back to our budget as revenue,” Palamar said. He wasn’t sure how many bids were received this week, but said, “We got a couple calls. The vehicles have been parked outside the city garage for a few months, according to Daniel E. Kelly, city superintendent of streets. “There isn’t a lot of space out at the city garage. And once vehicles are no longer of any use to us and we don’t plan to use them anymore, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to hold onto them,” Palamar said. Three were used by the streets department: a 1986 Chevy G-30 cube van with a mileage of 93,348. a 1987 International S1700 with a mileage of 134,447. and a 1988 Ford F-450 bucket truck with a mileage of 89,646. Kelly said the lift on the bucket... I don’t know if you can buy the parts for it,” Kelly said. Kelly said his crews haven’t used the 1988 Ford F-450. Source: republicanherald.com
