Ford CEO: Aluminum-body Super Duty trucks will 'wow people' next year - Louisville Business First

Ford already had said it planned to bring an aluminum body to the F-Series Super Duty, but this is the first I've heard about it being launched next year. Fields said he couldn't comment much about it but said the design would "wow people. The blog says it's the 2017 Super Duty, but it doesn't have a lot of details on what's under the hood. If the truck does launch with a 2017 model, this likely would mean changes are on the way at the Kentucky Truck Plant. But a story last year in USA Today said Ford invested $843 million at plants in Dearborn, Mich. 1 billion at a plant in Kansas City, Mo. to start production of the aluminum F-150. The Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator also are made at the Kentucky Truck Plant. The Ford Escape and Lincoln MKC are made at the Louisville Assembly Plant on Fern Valley Road. Ford (NYSE: F) is one of the largest employers in Louisville, with about 9,000 workers. Source: www.bizjournals.com
