Cambria nursery operation damaged in fire - Buffalo News

CAMBRIA – Five volunteer fire companies were called on just after 11:30 a. m. Tuesday when a fire was reported in a pole barn at the rear of Faery’s Nursery and Landscaping at 3170 Ridge Road, near Townline Road. The fire heavily damaged the pole barn, located on the property’s southeast corner, as well as its contents. Firefighters were able to contain the fire and it did not spread to greenhouses, but it is not known whether heat from the flames caused any damage to the greenhouse or office. Owner David E. Faery told Niagara County sheriff’s deputies he had been doing some welding in the pole barn. In addition to the pole barn itself, also damaged in the fire were a 2006 Ford F550 truck, chainsaws, a chop saw, $30,000 worth of associated tools, a side cutter, skid steers, a sprayer and a wood chipper. Total losses were estimated at more than $169,000. In addition, a tractor-trailer located near the pole barn also was damaged. Townline Road remained open, but the Niagara County Sheriff Department closed Ridge Road in both directions near the nursery for several hours. Source: www.buffalonews.com
