Bulechek pleads not guilty to vehicular homicide - Iowa City Press Citizen

A man accused of causing a fatal car wreck while driving drunk south of Iowa City last year has pleaded not guilty. Jeffrey Thomas Bulechek, 28, of rural Kalona, entered a written plea of not guilty last week rather than appearing in court for his arraignment. Authorities charged Bulechek earlier this month with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and serious injury by vehicle. A pretrial conference for Bulechek has been set for 10 a. m. March 6, and his trial is scheduled to begin at 9 a. m. March 17 in Johnson County District Court. 1, 2013, Bulechek allegedly drove through a stop sign in his Ford F150 while traveling east on 520th Street S. W. at its intersection with Highway 1. Bulechek collided with a four-door Saturn occupied by three teenage cousins. In July, the families of the teens filed a civil suit against Bulechek and a bar, KTZ Roadhouse, where the suit alleges Bulechek was drinking the night of the wreck. Source: www.press-citizen.com
