Bulechek vehicular homicide trial pushed back - Iowa City Press Citizen

Bulechek had been scheduled for a pre-trial conference Friday and a jury trial June 9 in Johnson County District Court. Bulechek, however, has waived his right to a speedy trial and petitioned for a continuance in the case, with his lawyer, J. Dean Keegan, stating that discovery was ongoing. A new trial date had yet to be set as of Friday morning. Authorities charged Bulechek in December — a year after the fatal accident south of Iowa City — with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and serious injury by vehicle. 1, 2013, Bulechek allegedly drove through a stop sign in his Ford F150 while traveling east on 520th Street S. W. at its intersection with Highway 1. Bulechek collided with a four-door Saturn occupied by three teenage cousins. Driver Teresa Miller, then 17 and of Wellman, and Brooke Miller, then 16 and of Fay, Okla.
