And for 2016, Jag's sexy F-Type is as slick as it is quick, thanks to six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive options. Introduced as a 2014 model, the F-Type springs from the same alchemy that made Jaguar's racing and street-going forebears, the D- and E-Types, automotive icons. The big news is the six-speed manual gearbox, which can be had with rear-wheel-drive F-Types. The ZF transmission uses a lightweight aluminum case and semi-dry sump lubrication to reduce parasitic drag. Also new to the F-Type lineup is all-wheel-drive. The base F-Type convertible is rear-wheel-drive and comes with a supercharged 3. 0-liter V6 making 340 horsepower. Prices begin at $68,100. The F-Type S has a 380-horsepower V6. Starting at $80,400, the S tops out at 171 mph. The top-of-the-line F-Type R sports a 550-horse 5. 0-liter V8, all-wheel-drive and the eight-speed automatic. Jaguar said the F-Type R, which starts at a lofty $106,450, is electronically reined in at 186 mph. Jaguar's "adaptive dynamics suspension," standard on F-Type S and F-Type R, tracks body motion and pitch rates 100 times per second and adjusts the settings for each damper to improve.
