Man dies after fleeing police, crashing into tree in Campbell County - WDBJ7

Virginia State Police Trooper D. Hill said a Campbell County Sheriff's Deputy pulled Christopher Liberty over at 10:21 p. m. Friday night to speak with him about another investigation. According to Hill, Liberty pulled over into a gas station at Lewis Ford Road and Brookneal Highway. As the deputy approached the truck Liberty pulled out and took off down Lewis Ford Road. Hill said the main factor of the crash was speed, and Liberty was driving faster than 80 mph when he hit the tree about half a mile west of Hickory Creek Road ten minutes after the original stop. According to Hill, that section of Lewis Ford Road is unmarked and has a speed limit of 55 mph. Hill was unable to comment as to what investigation the Campbell County Sheriff's Office wanted to speak to Liberty about. Source: www.wdbj7.com
