Ford Introduces New Automatic Transmission on 2011 Super Duty Trucks - Car and Driver (blog)
Following the announcement earlier this year of the 2011 F-series Super Duty , Ford has unveiled a new six-speed automatic transmission that will accompany both the gas and diesel engines in its upcoming behemoths. Normally, companies have one transmission for gas engines and one for diesels, but Ford says its new 6R140 will handle the immense low-end torque of the 6. 7-liter diesel—which rumor says could peak at over 700 lb-ft—without compromising high-rpm... The new transmission will also enable a sort of manual mode through a toggle switch like those on GM pickups. Source: blog.caranddriver.com
