Chase ends in crash after naked pickup driver rams Waukesha squad cars - Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Waukesha police officers avoided injury in a wild encounter with an out-of-control pickup driver who first rammed two parked squad cars, lost control during the ensuing chase and hit one of the squads again before crashing his vehicle Tuesday night. In a news release issued Wednesday, Waukesha police said the man was believed to have been on LSD at the time of the incident and recently involved in a domestic dispute. According to the news release, the chain of events started about 7:45 p. m. when the man drove his Ford Ranger pickup at high speed down W. Newhall Ave. , plowed through a fence and rammed into two squad cars of officers meeting in a parking lot. During the initial pursuit, the driver lost control of the pickup, spinning the vehicle to face the wrong side of the road and collided with one of the squad cars again. He sped off, gaining some separation from the officers but lost control once more when he attempted to turn into a vacant parking lot just off Progress Ave. The pickup was totaled in the rollover. Police said it was unclear whether the driver was ejected from the pickup or walked away. A pair of Carroll University employees who escaped the speeding truck on their six-wheel ATV by about five seconds also avoided injury. Source: www.jsonline.com
