Clarksville attorney Sharon Massey was among six candidates who were knocked out of the running for a new Circuit Court judge job Tuesday. Massey was among nine candidates who were publicly interviewed by the eight-member Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments on Tuesday. She spent most of her time before the eight interviewers defending herself after a Sunday story in The Leaf-Chronicle reported she had handled cases for at least 85 clients before her husband, General Sessions Judge Ray Grimes, since 2008. Brown told her during the public interview that he had served as a judge for 22 years and “appearance and public perception” are important and that Tuesday was a good opportunity to “explain away these matters.
