Louis Cardinals left-handed pitcher, who made a rehab start with the Peoria Chiefs on Thursday night, joined a pair of hurlers to complete a no-hitter against the scuffling Clinton LumberKings. Garcia pitched five strong innings during the Chiefs' 2-0 win, his first appearance in a game since late June because of a groin injury. As is customary on rehab starts, Garcia left before the game ended. "I was able to get some work done, be able to work on my pitches," Garcia said. Needing 58 pitches — his cap was 60 — to get 15 outs, Garcia faced one over the minimum in his five innings. In four of his five innings, he recorded a strikeout. Garcia retired the first seven batters he faced before hitting Clinton's eighth-place batter with one out in the third. "It's the first start," Garcia said. This is part of having my first start and getting everything back where it needs to be. ". Injured on June 24 against the Miami Marlins while running the bases, Garcia reached the disabled list for the second time this season. Garcia's return to the starting rotation helped the Cardinals overcome Adam Wainwright's season-ending foot injury.
