He was sentenced to 75 days of intermittent jail on weekends, probation for one year and was ordered to pay a total of $700 restitution to the stores he victimized. Assistant Crown attorney Gerard Laarhuis told Justice Larry O'Brien that Bennett claims he sold the Playstation on Kijiji before he was arrested for the theft. He was credited with 356 days of pretrial custody and sentenced to a further 374 days in prison. He was given enhanced credit on 22 days of pretrial custody, sentenced to a further 102 days in jail and probation for one year. Assistant Crown attorney Gerard Laarhuis said Cassalman was caught in late January leaving the 445 Princess St. Shoppers Drug Mart with three bottles of fragrance hidden under his sweater. Justice Larry O'Brien was told the scents, which retail for a combined $262, were recovered, and Cassalman was released from custody the following day with a court appearance date.
