CAPTURED: Man sought in Polk workplace shooting - WTSP 10 News
Mulberry, Florida -- The man sought in the shooting at MES-GCI Construction in Mulberry on July 30 is in police custody Thursday. Polk Sheriff's deputies who were actively searching for Danny Coleman Thompson Jr. , 39, located his truck around 10:28 Thursday morning parked on Pinedale Drive in south Lakeland. Around 10:40 a. m. , deputies within the perimeter saw Thompson quickly walking through yards towards Yates Road. The helicopter responded to Yates Road and hovered over Thompson, who was on a long dirt driveway in the 5800 block. Thompson was booked into the Polk County Jail on three counts attempted first-degree murder, and one count armed burglary. His 2006 Ford F-150 Super Crew Cab has been towed to PCSO Crime Scene to be processed. “Our deputies have been actively searching for Thompson every single day since he tried to kill three people at his former place of employment. "We still have many questions as to why Thompson shot two men and shot at another, but the important thing is, he’s locked up now and will probably spend the rest of his life in prison.
