Ford F-250 Australian first drive review - Drive
Oversized, overpowered and over here - Ford's F-250 dual cab has landed in Australia. Measuring 6. 2 metres long and rocking the scales at a truck-like 3. 4 tonnes, the Kentucky-produced behemoth typifies America's fascination with all things big. "Most people buy something like this to tow big trailers or caravans. The latter point is reinforced during Drive's opening familiarisation with the F-250. It's big – really big – in person. The centrepiece of the blue oval truck is a 6. 7-litre turbo diesel V8 that churns out a hearty 328kW of power and 1166Nm of torque. Drive is sent all four wheels via a six-speed automatic – culminating in a maximum braked towing capacity of 4. 5 tonnes in Australia. Payload capacity, meanwhile, is rated (seemingly conservatively) at 1100kg.
