Becker man killed in crash 'had everything to live for' - St. Cloud Times

Maurer died Tuesday night after authorities say a Ford F-150 ran a red light on Highway 10 and broadsided his Dodge Caravan. Maurer’s family said he had lived in Becker for around 13 years, and had recently been enjoying newfound good health. “Chuck had been so sick with his heart condition, and he was just recovering,” said Maurer’s mother, Clara Maurer. The Minnesota State Patrol said Charles Maurer was driving north on County Road 11 at 8 p. m. when a Ford F-150, driven by 18-year-old Deven Garlock, of Little Falls, ran a red light heading east on Highway 10 and broadsided his van. Maurer was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, where authorities say he died at 9 p. m. All three passengers in Maurer’s van, including his two daughters, were injured. Maurer’s 10-year-old daughter, Casey Maurer, was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center with injuries the State Patrol considered serious. Clara Maurer said her granddaughter’s condition was “improving” Wednesday afternoon, but that she was still hospitalized. Maurer’s 15-year-old daughter, Alenita Maurer, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Source: www.sctimes.com
