Gene Robertson, an 84-year-old car enthusiast and former owner of Gene Robertson’s Auto Body, never thought he would own another truck like his beloved 1956 Ford pickup. He didn’t expect his friend of 20 years to gather his family and friends together and present him with one of the best gifts he had ever received. Buddy Burnett spent 10 months replicating Robertson’s favorite old car, one he had to part with many years ago. Burnett said he has coffee with Robertson every week, heard the story of his old truck and wanted to do something special for him. Robertson’s 2006 Chevy pickup got totaled after being hit while parked, and the insurance didn’t cover the damage. “I’m the only one that didn’t know about it,” Robertson said. Source: amarillo.com
