“The WBCA is an organization made up of hard working dedicated volunteer directors and individuals, and it is they, along with our incredible staff, and generous sponsors, that make all the festivities possible,” Castellano said. A graduate of United High School, Castellano completed his undergraduate training at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas. Upon graduation, he received his DDS degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, Texas. Castellano is an assistant Clinical Professor for the Department of Developmental Dentistry at UTHSC-SA Dental School and has authored and co-authored several publications in the dental literature. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and is active with his state component, the Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. The Texas Monthly magazine chose Dr. Castellano as a “Texas Super Dentist” for eight plus years. Castellano and his wife, Dr. Vanessa G. Carpenter, are the parents of two children, Nicolas and EJ. “With 28 events in about 30 days, the Washington’s Birthday Celebration has ‘Something for Everyone’,” Castellano said. His involvement in WBCA began in 1984 when he joined the Jalapeño Festival committee as a director, and continued working with the Festival until he served as president in 1989.
