Conyers police officer performs PIT maneuver on fleeing burglary suspect - Rockdale Citizen
CONYERS — A suspected burglar crashed a large pickup truck into a parked car and fled after being pursued by a Conyers police officer. Conyers Police Department Officer Scot McGinnis was patrolling the Conyers Plaza 2 Shopping Center around 6 a. m. Monday when he saw a light colored van with the name of a church ministry painted on the side backing away from the rear of Office... As the van was backing away, the officer then saw a white Ford F350 backed up against the rear of Game Stop. Based on the fact the truck was backed up to a doorway of a closed business, and because of the number of burglaries in the area, the officer approached the driver of the truck. The officer returned to his patrol car and pursued the fleeing truck as it traveled onto Dogwood Drive, driving in the oncoming lane of traffic, before turning onto Courtesy Parkway. The truck stopped in the roadway in front of The Century Lakeside apartment complex where a black male wearing dark clothing jumped out and ran into the complex, according to the report. The driver took off again, so the officer attempted a PIT maneuver, but due to the size of the truck, he was unable to get the driver to stop. Source: www.rockdalecitizen.com
