I stood above Ford's Dearborn Assembly Plant for about an hour last week and watched 60 F-150 pickup trucks come off the line, ready for occupancy: one a minute, nearly every hour of every day, all year long. Touring the Rouge Tours of the Ford Rouge Factory are offered by t he Henry Ford , the complex of attractions in Dearborn, Michigan, that also includes the Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Dearborn is about three hours from Cleveland. Bill Ford, the company's chairman and CEO, invested $2 billion in the factory, the remade version that debuted in 2004. It is one of two places in the United States where Ford manufactures its wildly popular F-150 truck (the other is Kansas City). I first toured the Rouge plant four years ago, though my visit then was poorly timed: The factory was shut down due to a parts shortage following the devastating earthquake in Japan in March 2011.
