The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel was named Thursday as the Green Truck of the Year at the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show. Other finalists included Chevrolet Colorado and its corporate sibling, GMC Canyon, and the Ford F-150. The big shocker is that the Ram could beat Ford's all-new aluminum-bodied F-150, considered revolutionary in the truck world. The Green Car Journal , which hands out the award, says the Ram has the only clean diesel in the segment — and that made all the difference. The Journal also cited other fuel-saving features in the truck, like grille shutters that close for less drag on the highway, an eight-speed automatic transmission and an air suspension system that lowers the truck at higher speeds. "The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is America's most fuel-efficient pickup with a highway rating of 28 miles per gallon," says Bob Hegbloom, CEO of the Ram Truck Brand. Source: www.usatoday.com
