Tulsa misses out on 2018 Big 12 Baseball Championship - Tulsa World

“We are disappointed the Phillips 66 Baseball Championship will not be returning to Tulsa in 2018. The Tulsa Sports Commission team, the Local Organizing Committee, countless volunteers and corporate supporters were the foundation in our... Geez, i didn't realize OKC more than DOUBLED Tulsa's attendance [sad] every year in OKC. Im sure they have to battle the threat of rain every year in OKC like we did. Guess it just came up to the BIG 12 not wanting to play in a empty stadium every game they had that didn't involve OSU. Just another example of Tulsa not supporting something that could have had a good economic impact from hosting the event. I wasn't jumping for joy at the 9AM games, but I went hoping that enough other people would also go to give our city a fighting chance of hosting the event again. If the Kansas Jayhawk fans had not come down here in droves to follow there team the BOK CENTER would have been empty for every game [sad]. For a city of 400,000 people thats kinda sad noone will go to games and support anything. Gee, looks like the Tulsa Shock may be decent this year, and it will be a shame when they only get 4,000 people per game. Source: www.tulsaworld.com
