A chance to race: Raffle readies Tuff Truck for lucky driver - Le Mars Daily Sentinel
This year promises nothing less with 43 drivers entered, including at least four new trucks. Tuff Trucks is a race consisting of modified trucks on a dirt track that includes jumps and obstacles. Nick Daugherty, a 15-year veteran of Tuff Trucks and its current superintendent, recently announced he plans to hold a raffle that will give the winner a chance to drive a truck he built during Thursday's race. Daugherty, of Le Mars, said he just wants to give people the opportunity to take part in the event, even if they don't have their own truck. "I figured this would be a chance to try and get someone new into it and give them a chance," Daugherty said. "We let her drive it one year and the next year she got her own truck and the year after that he started racing," Daugherty said. Daugherty built a 1994 Ford F150 for the Tuff Truck race. "It's just been a labor of love and I enjoy doing it. I haven't built a new truck in six years, so I kind of had to get back in the swing of things," he said. Daugherty said with all the work, it took him about a week to put the truck together. Source: www.lemarssentinel.com
