New Mexico's Jim Guthrie has competed in three Indy 500s in his racing career and most recently in the ever-popular Formula Drift competition against the likes of Justin Pawlak and Vaughn Gittin Jr. He owns one of the coolest body shops we've... It has been the primary backer for Jim's motorsports career, which includes multiple Indy car finishes in front of some of the best in the world, a victory at Phoenix International Speedway in 1997, and IRL Rookie of the Year honors the same year. Evidence is all around him, from the previously mentioned 640-rwhp Mustang GT drifter, to a killer performance-enhanced Ford GT that puts 843 hp to the ground, to his custom SVT Lightning monster shown here. Jim has loved the Ford Lightning since it first came out in 1993 and has owned three along the way. His seemingly unquenchable fondness for fast trucks has lead him to build this ultra-trick Lightning. Jim decided that true Ford Lightning bliss would be a super- or hyper-Lightning. A red '99 Lightning was eventually found in Chama, New Mexico. Jim and his talented crew at Car Crafters took the SVT Lightning completely apart to start the makeover.
