2015 Ford F-150 First Look - MotorTrend Magazine
The 2015 Ford F-150 gets new military-strength aluminum bodywork, a new interior, a V-6-centric engine lineup, and innovative new features that truck buyers are sure to love. By using techniques learned from the military's HMMWV (that's Humvee to you and I) and the aerospace industry, Ford says the aluminum will be stronger and more dent-resistant than the steel body panels it replaces. That means the new, lighter F-150 can haul more, and achieve higher fuel economy numbers than the F-150 that came before it. As before the F-150 gets four different engine options: two all-new engines and two carryovers. The F-150's base engine is a new 3. 5-liter V-6. Based on the old 3. 7-liter V-6, the smaller engine is said to make more power than the old engine's 302-hp unit. Next in the lineup is an all-new EcoBoost 2. 7-liter twin-turbo V-6. The new engine is designed primarily for customers who don't tow or haul heavy loads, and instead use the F-150 as a lifestyle vehicle. The EcoBoost 3. 5-liter twin-turbo V-6 is now the top engine in the F-150 lineup, and also likely will have more power than before. The F-150 is loaded with new features for the new model year. The 2015 Ford F-150 gets an easier-to-use tailgate step, modular tie-down cleats in the bed, LED bed lighting, and segment-first motorcycle ramps. These ramps sit on the lip of the open tailgate, allowing motorcycles and ATVs to be easily loaded, and the ramps are then stored along the side of the bed. Source: www.motortrend.com
