California Highway Patrol officers said the 4:15 p. m. crash occurred when the driver of a 1992 Ford F-250 heading west steered his vehicle into the eastbound traffic lane. The Ford collided head-on with a 2006 Toyota Tacoma traveling east. Bakersfield resident Brian Duke, 48, the driver of the Ford, was taken to Kern Medical Center, as were Kernville residents William Diaz, 69, driver of the Tacoma, and his wife, Linda Diaz, 72.
