This is an original Ford 289 engine shortblock. This shortblock consists of the block, crankshaft, rods and pistons, camshaft and timing chain. The casting number is C5AE-6015-E. The casting date is 5F3 which decodes as June 3rd, 1965. This block has the 6 bolt bellhousing bolt pattern. This is a very hard to find early block fr the 1965 model year.
This shortblock is in very good condition as shown. This came out f the private stash of a machine shop owner and hot rodder who passed away. I imagine he had this stashed away for a special car. This shortblock was rebuilt long ago and has been in cool, dry storage ever since. The block is bored .040 over and has not been used since being rebuilt. It turns over freely with no sticking or binding. The cylinder look nice with some staining from the rotating staying in the same position for decades. The crank and rods have some corrosion from storage that should cause no issues and clean up nicely if you choose to do so. Since the engine has been in storage for so long, I think it would be a good idea to disassemble it, inspect and lube the parts, and reassemble. That said, it would likely be fine as is and its up to you. This is an awesome rebuilt shortblock!
This is your chance to own the rebuilt 1965 289 engine shortblock you have been dreaming about at a GREAT PRICE. Don't miss out!!
