John Curley and his wife took off to pick up their new 1966 Ford F-100 in Arkansas. Slowly, but surely, John Curley is traversing the American countryside en route home in his dream truck — a 1966 Ford F-100 truck. The dream, however, has a tendency to break down from time to time. "Day one, we drove for four hours and we went 271 miles and we stopped for gas three times. We are making about 8 miles a gallon in this old pickup truck," Curley reported back to KIRO Radio. "Second day, we broke down in Omaha, Nebraska," he said. "An old crazy drunken guy, yesterday, climbed underneath the car and fixed part of it. That was nice," Curley said. "So we are relying on old, drunken, crazy people to climb under the car every 200 miles and fix something. While the truck has broken down a few times, Curley doesn't like to put it that way. four times where you turn the key and nothing happens. "When they key gets into the ignition, it vibrates then falls out of the ignition, so then you have to find the key. It keeps running, but you can't find the key," Curley said. Curley and his wife most recently made it to Wall Drug, SD, a famous roadside attraction where they bunked down for the night. Curley said he intends to finish the final leg of his trip within one day. Source: mynorthwest.com
