Rusty but trusty, this old F-100 keeps rolling along - The Detroit News

Jim Burns’ 1966 Ford F-100 pickup is rusty as a head of old lettuce, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Then it sat out in the open on the side of a hill for 14 years, which is where the rust set in. Because it was on the side of a hill the rust was worse on one side than the other. When Burns acquired it, he installed a new battery and fuel line and it started right up after all those years hiding on a hill. The truck is rusty, has an engine that sounds like a washing machine and burns more than a little oil. Burns opened the driver’s side door and reverently pointed out some fingerprints on the grimy door. “My grandfather died in 1991 and those are his fingerprints,” said Burns, who restores cars and also owns a dance studio in Hazel Park where he lives. People love this truck and ask me all the time if I’d like to sell it as is. “But I would never sell it: It’s Grandpa’s truck. Source: www.detroitnews.com
