Summerlicious was delicious - www.insidebelleville.com/

Henry Toews puts some polish on his 1978 Ford F100 truck, one of several classic vehicles that lined Front Street on Saturday, June 20 for a new car show that was part of the DBIA’s Summerlicious event. Summer got off to a great start in Downtown Belleville. The Belleville Downtown Improvement Area’s (BDIA) Summerlicious event was well attended, as hundreds came downtown on Saturday, June 20 to taste samples from restaurants and take in a classic car show, a new feature of the annual event. With perfect weather, the event proved to be a great way to celebrate the start of summer, which officially began with the summer solstice the following night. Fifteen downtown restaurants prepared summer themed dishes with local ingredients that were available to sample for $2. Samples ranged from strawberry treats to pizza and tacos. The dishes were judged by the public for a People’s Choice Award and a panel of celebrity judges named a Juror’s Choice award. The car show, DBIA staff say, was a very successful attraction as people of all ages enjoyed looking at the antique cars. The BDIA was so happy with the event – and the co-operation from businesses and volunteers – that staff hopes to make the car show a regular feature at the annual. Source: www.insidebelleville.com
