Impairment factor in wrong-way I-275 crash - WXIX

Alcohol and/or drugs are factors in a wrong-way crash on eastbound Interstate 275 Wednesday, Cincinnati police said. Police say he was under the influence driver when he drove his 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck westbound in the eastbound lanes near the Kellogg Avenue exit just after 3:30 p. m. , causing a three-vehicle crash that temporarily shut the highway down. His truck hit two eastbound vehicles: a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer and a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country mini-van. The driver of the Blazer, Charles Benjamin, 52, was trapped in his sport utility vehicle and had to be extricated by Cincinnati fire crews. He was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. The driver of the mini-van, Michelle Geiger, 54, was not hurt.
