‘Ute ownership is pretty much off the table for most North Americans, unless of course you’re shopping the classifieds for a Chevrolet El Camino or a Ford Ranchero. It’s a sad fact made more painful by the fact that Australia, New Zealand and a few other markets still get access to new ‘Utes like the Holden Maloo HSV. Well, we’re happy to bring new some good news ‘Ute fans, and it comes in the form of an eBay listing. Or what we’re affectionately calling: the Chevrolet El Camonte Carlo. The seller says the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo was purchased new and taken straight to a body shop to receive its “concept makeover”. The seller also claims that GM measured and photographed the ‘Ute-d Monte Carlo once it was completed “and at one time had considered bringing back the El Camino to the United States based off of this car”.
