This is an awesome original Ford/Mercury T-10 four speed transmission out of a 1962 Ford Galaxie. Based on the research I have done, I believe this is a close ratio box that originally came behind FE series Big Block Ford 390 and 406 engines. I believe this will fit many Ford and Mercury applications of the 1960's Please confirm your specific application.
This transmission appears to be completely original and unmolested. The main case is casting number T10B-1 and has a casting date of A262 as shown which I believe decodes as Jan 26th, 1962. The main case is also stamped "D42-2". The side cover has a casting date of 1.26.61 as shown. The tailhousing casting number is T10B-7 as shown. The transmission also retains the original tag 2A3-D-1 and "FoMoCo" as shown. This transmission looks to be all original and I do not believe it has ever been apart or modified. This is quite a find in 2020!
This transmission looks to be in very good original condition as shown. I see no breaks, repairs, or modifications. I also see no pitting or other damage. All threads are in good condition. The transmission spins through all 4 forward gears and reverse smoothly with no binding or sloppiness. I removed the side cover to show the internals are as clean as the externals as shown. I believe I may have removed the side cover for the first time since the gasket looked to be a factory style opaque gasket with no additional sealers on it. This is an amazing early T10 4 speed transmission.
