Show & Shine draws autos, smiles - Wallowa County Cheiftain

Thanks to good local weather, hundreds of people perused more than 100 cars at the second annual Main Street Show & Shine car show held Aug. At least 113 cars were registered and participated in the event, according to Doug Crow, owner/manager of Main Street Auto, which co-sponsored the show with the Elks Lodge. Crow said the event had fewer entries this year, which he attributed to the fires raging throughout the state. Last year we called a lot of local people who had a car we thought they should show off. This year we didn’t do that because we thought they’d probably come back, and they didn’t for one reason or another,” he said. Crow said he received positive comments from new participants and attendees alike, who said they liked the small shows better than the bigger ones because of the proximity of lodging and the downtown area. The judging staff included eight people as opposed to last year’s three judges. this year we split it up better,” Crow said. 1935 Ford five-window coupe. 1939 & Earlier Car Original: Milo Schleifer, Enterprise, 1929 Model A Ford. 1939 & Earlier Truck: Ernie Houghton, Cambridge, Idaho, 1935 Ford Pickup.
