The Lamborghini Urus, the Italian supercar company’s first SUV in more than 20 years, has officially gotten the go-ahead for production. Slotted amongst the company’s range of exotic machinery, the Urus will have to accelerate and handle better than any SUV – and better than most sports cars. It has been years since we first caught site of the Urus in concept form. While it officially broke cover during the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, we got an off-the-record glimpse earlier, during the New York Auto Show, at an off-site venue that banned all images or mention of this super-SUV before its official appearance in... We loved it then, and we love it even more now that production is confirmed. That’s the minimum you can expect this Lamborghini sport-ute to churn out. The Urus concept was powered by a rev-hungry V-10 used in the Gallardo supercar. It’s not impossible that Lamborghini could use its new-era SUV to usher in forced-induction engines. Expect Lamborghini to be gunning for a top speed in excess of 200 miles per hour - you just know Lambo wants the Urus to claim the title of “world’s fastest production SUV” when it goes on sale.
