MacKinnon takes Pro Stock Tour win on home soil - Enfield Weekly Press

OYSTER BED BRIDGE: Darren MacKinnon made sure the checkered flag for the Lucas Oil 100 at Oyster Bed Bridge Speedway in PEI wasn’t going to leave the hands of Island for another year. The driver of the no. 18 Shaw’s Towing Services-True North Automotive-sponsored machine picked up his second checkered flag of the season to leapfrog into first place in the Maritime Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour points standings. MacKinnon had a back and forth battle throughout the race—which was slowed by eight cautions—while in the lead with Craig Slaunwhite in the 99, who came home second. Dylan Gosbee was the man of the race, marching from the rear of the field after failing to make qualifying as they put in a new clutch in the car. The clutch went in the first practice, so they had to head home to get a new one and get back to install it in the car. Halifax’s John Flemming and last year’s Oyster Bed Pro Stock race winner Jonathan Hicken from Brudenell, P. E. I completed the top five. Slaunwhite said second place is as good as a win at Oyster Bed. “It’s like a win coming here to finish second, especially to a guy like Darren. It’s a good run for us. “My car was good to get by him for five or six laps and then he was able to reel me in and get by. ”. He was hoping on one more yellow flag. “If another restart had of come with a green-white-checker, we would have had it,” said Slaunwhite smiling. “We used the car up pretty good,” he said.
