Upper Saucon approves auction of 7 used vehicles - WFMZ Allentown

The Upper Saucon Township Board of Supervisors Monday approved the sale of used township vehicles via online auction. Supervisors designated the vehicles as surplus property to be sold through an electronic auction. Township Manager Tom Beil said all the vehicles were in “very used condition" in need of replacement. He noted a 1999 Sterling Jet Vacuum Truck with 16,000 miles would have a minimum starting bid of $40,000. A pair of Ford Dump trucks - a 2000 model with nearly 66,000 miles and a 2002 model with nearly 61,000 miles - each equipped with snow plows... Finally, four Ford Crown Victoria police cruisers, three from 2007 and a 2011 model each with various high mileages, will be assigned minimum starting bids of $300. According to Beil, the auction will begin Aug. Before the bidding opens, all the vehicles are being sold “as-is” with no warranties and are available for inspection at Upper Saucon’s municipal building during normal business hours, Beil said. In other business, supervisors awarded a $14,395 contract to Gary Hillegas Concrete Contracting of Hellertown to replace 1,915 square feet of sidewalks and handicap ramps located on the north and east sides of the township municipal building. Money originally budgeted for repaving the municipal building’s parking lot will be reallocated for the sidewalk project which will begin late next month. Source: www.wfmz.com
