TOUGH LOVE: Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 powerful, comfortable ndash; and way big - Albuquerque Journal

Impossible to overlook: It’s the Ram 2500 Big Horn Crew Cab 4×4. Heavy duty doesn’t begin to describe this burly behemoth. A trailer-load of landscaping boulders that need towing. Chrysler has uncoupled the Ram lineup from Dodge, creating its very own division of pickup trucks, chassis cabs and work vans. The pickups are the main draw, having been awarded Motor Trend’s prestigious Truck of the Year award two years running, in 2013 and ’14. Our test vehicle boasted an expansive, surprisingly posh interior, with nicely cloth-upholstered, plush... The comprehensive dash featured a full panoply of gauges and meters, including one for transmission temperature, as befits its work ethic. Here’s a vehicle that could really benefit from a set of running boards: It almost requires a running leap to overcome the reach into the seats. Our tester featured a big, thumping 6. 4-liter Hemi V-8 putting out a prodigious 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. With a solid-shifting six-speed automatic transmission sending power through an electronically controlled transfer case, the hefty pickup seems more than capable of virtually any towing duty it is likely to be reasonably called upon to perform. With an empty bed, the Crew Cab rides, well, like a truck, with lots of bouncy movements on less-than-smooth roads. Source: www.abqjournal.com
