The victim’s eastbound 2003 BMW SUV veered into oncoming traffic on North River Road near Stallion Drive around 6:15 p. m. Tuesday and crashed head- on into a westbound 2015 Toyota Rav4, Oceanside police Sgt. The BMW’s driver became trapped in her SUV. Lopez said the force of the collision caused the Rav4 to spin out and come to a rest facing east in the westbound lane. The driver of a westbound 2002 Toyota pickup truck then struck the Rav4 head-on. Firefighters freed the BMW’s driver from her wrecked SUV and attempted to revive her, but she died at the scene, according to the sergeant. The Rav4’s driver was airlifted to a hospital as a precaution but was later released, Lopez said. Lopez said the investigation into the crash was ongoing and it was unknown whether speed or alcohol played a role. Source: fox5sandiego.com
