SFC Motorsports offers a direct replacement Aluminum version of the Mechatronic Adapter for 6HP26, 6HP28, and 6HP32 Transmissions (also called "grommets", "valve body seals") used in BMW, Jaguar, Range Rover, and others.WHAT DOES IT DO? This adapter acts as a transfer port to allow fluid to move from the transmission to the “mechatronic” valve body, which houses the solenoids to shift gears. The fluid pressure engages the different solenoids to shift gears and when the OEM plastic adapter cracks, there is a loss of fluid pressure and the solenoids can not open and close properly causing the failure or “Transmission Fault”PLASTIC VS ALUMINUM? The SFC Motorsports aluminum version of the mechatronic adapter has improved dimensions over the OEM plastic version and is a direct replacement. The aluminum material is better able to withstand the high transmission temperatures than the OEM plastic materials. Most of the other transmission components are made from aluminum and so it’s easy to see why we chose high grade aluminum as it will likely last the lifetime of the car and owner. The OEM plastic version has been well documented to crack due to the high transmission heat over time, usually between 40,000 to 60,000 miles.
