BMW Hommage: models launched so far – some little history. In case you haven’t paid close attention to BMW for the past few years, the brand does this cool and original thing of launching from time to time unique models that pay tribute to a number of BMW’s best models out there. The first in the series of Hommages, this model debuted back in 2008 to honor the 30 anniversary for the M1 model from BMW at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este , an Italian gathering hosting. Just like the M1 prototype back in 1972, the BMW M Hommage had the brand badge placement, the metallic bronze paint and a louvered rear window. The BMW designers did a good job with the side mirrors, wheels, front grille and bumper, which had been unseen on a BMW model up to that moment. In turned out in the end that BMW was using the Hommage Concept to test its styling success for the then upcoming i8. Everyone can see now that the i8 is very similar to the Hommage Concept, with squinty headlights, a short rear deck and the gap... Anyhow, BMW’s Hommage Concept became one of the brand’s most beautiful models and led to the birth of the i8 models. Source: www.inautonews.com
