On Tuesday, jurors heard from numerous witnesses and acquaintances of Boswell’s, many of whom confirmed he was the “governor” or leader of the Gangster Disciples, Killeen’s most prominent street gang. Jonic Arrington, a Killeen club owner and entrepreneur, said he was inside his home July 17, 2012, with his wife and two children when the door was suddenly and violently kicked in. At some point in during the robbery, Ricky Brandon, one of the men allegedly sent by Boswell to rob Arrington’s home, was shot. “I grabbed him under his arms and tried to carry him,” said Daniel Lee Caruth, an admitted Gangster Disciples member, who said he was the lookout during the robbery. John Bowman, a longtime Killeen police gang investigator, testified Wednesday that he was watching the Gangster Disciples when the robbery and subsequent murder occurred. “I’d been working the Gangster Disciples since I started my career in Killeen,” said a now-retired Bowman.
