Buick Cascada comes in 2016; Avenir concept unveiled - Detroit Free Press

Buick, as expected, showed the Cascada, a European-built convertible, but also unveiled the Avenir, a concept of a future flagship sedan Sunday night at Eastern Market. "The 2016 Cascada is a beautiful, engaging convertible that represents the very best of the brand's global development practices," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick and GMC. Buick bounds into 2015 with momentum from an 11. 4% sales increase in 2014, the best improvement among General Motors' four brands. Last year's U. S. sales of 228,963 were less than a quarter of its home-market peak of 942,000 in 1984, but Buick is GM's primary brand China, where it sold a record 919,518 vehicles last year. When Canada and Mexico are included Buick's global sales were just under 1. 2 million last year, the most in the brand's 111-year history. Not since the Lansing-built Reatta two-seater went out of production in 1991 has Buick had a convertible in its lineup. The exterior is slightly modified from the Opel (and Vauxhall) Cascada that went on sale in 2013. Drivers will be able to lower the top in 17 seconds even while the car is moving at speeds up to 31 m. p. h. Cascada will expand Buick's portfolio... Source: www.freep.com
