Man, 37, arrested in near-deadly hit-and-run - First Coast News

— A man was hit by a car that drove off while crossing Blanding Boulevard in Clay County Monday evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 8 p. m. , FHP said, and involved a stolen car. About two hours before the crash, Clay County authorities said a 1998 Buick had been reported stolen. Officials said they believe the car had a red light when it blew through the intersection, hit the man and then took off. Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office later found the Buick LeSabre damaged and abandoned less than a mile up the road in Duval County. The vehicle's owner identified Roenisch as the man taking the car for a test drive when it was stolen, according to an arrest report. A police K-9 unit tracked the suspect's scent from the vehicle to a nearby hotel, where police spotted a man matching the suspect's description, the report said. Source: www.firstcoastnews.com
