McDowell County sheriff’s investigators are searching for whoever stole 65 cases of Little Debbie snack cakes from a truck between July 31 and Monday. John Wrenn of Marion, who works for Rector Distributing of Rutherfordton, reported that his 1994 Chevrolet box van was broken into at Economy Mini Storage on U. S. 70 West, where he parks it when he’s not working, according to the sheriff’s office. The culprits cut a hole in the fence surrounding the storage units, broke into the van and removed peanut butter cookies, caramel cookies, donuts, brownies, fudge rounds, honey buns, Swiss rolls, nutty bars, doughnut sticks, oatmeal pies and... Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Manis at 828-652-2237 or McDowell County Crime Stoppers at 828-65-CRIME (652-7463). Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward. Little Debbie snacks have a Charlotte tie dating to the 1930s. The family-run McKee Foods Corp. , which produces the snacks, was founded in 1934 in Chattanooga, Tenn. In 1957, the family moved their business to the small town of Collegedale, Tenn.
