Swift, 86, entered the pleas during his initial appearance Friday in Ottawa County Common Pleas Court. The state requested an unsecured bond, which was set in the amount of $10,000, despite the seriousness of the charges, as Swift is a local resident with local legal counsel. Swift was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash when he failed to yield at an intersection in Carroll Township on April 25, according to reports by the Ohio Highway Patrol. Swift’s 2004 Chevrolet Venture Van was struck by an oncoming truck and overturned. A previous release from the Ohio Highway Patrol said Mark Swift was not wearing a seat belt at the time.
